Ley Farm wins major Conservation Award
The 2004 Bronze Otter Trophy - Devon Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group FWAG
![]() |
We (Sophia & me) were very
surprised (and very chuffed) to win the "senior" Devon
FWAG conservation and wildlife award
especially after initially only entering in the "the first steps in
conservation award". Although
we have always been into wildlife & beautiful countryside & been
in the Countryside stewardship for many a year we didn't really believe
we could win until a friend entered us.
We are very proud of the many red listed birds here especially the Cirl
Buntings who bred here this year plus our resident Barn and Tawny Owls
which we hear the latter on many a night. We have many rare species and
plants including 3 endangered butterflies including the Grizzled Skipper.
Great Horseshoe bats feed in one of our valleys & in
the stubble field above a large flock of Skylarks sing and the rare Weasel's
Snout grows (a diminutive wild antirrhinum).
