Ley Farm - Devon

Ley Farm

Ley farm is a beautiful and typical South Devon farm found in the South Hams. It has three steep sided valleys with spring fed streams running through. High Devon hedges built on banks and many trees make it an idyllic spot to live for us humans and provide shelter to the animals. It has won a senior FWAG award for conservation - the bronze Otter Award.

Holiday Cottage to let With picturesque rooms

The farm runs to 450 acres which are part owned and part rented on various tenancies. I feel the most efficient way to produce food is to let farmers farm in the way that suites them and is appropriate to the land. On the whole is what generation after generation of them have done in Devon, creating the beautiful landscape we have and very good food. Unfortunately that position is under threat. A massive squeeze has been put on farming to the extent that a huge number of farmers have been forced out of farming, their farms divided and their farmhouses sold off. Personally I feel very sad about this threat to our way of life and traditions.

Ley Farm offer visitors the opportunity to share in their lifestyle by staying in their holiday accommodation. You have to be prepared to accept a working farm, in return for which you may be able to see lambs being born or many of the other events that happen on the farm.

The animals on Ley Farm are brought up with animal welfare and the environment as key goals. Animals run free most of the year, and are predominantly grass fed. The farm also has horses, geese and other animals from time to time.

Ley Farm is FABBL registered, which also entitles the farm to the use of the Red Tractor Logo - click logos below for details.
